Description
Naveline oranges are a variety of blond oranges belonging to the Navel group, so called because of the characteristic “navel” at the base of the fruit, due to the formation of a small twin fruit inside the skin. This distinctive feature is not just aesthetic, but guarantees particularly tender, juicy flesh.
Originally from California (“navel” being the English word for “belly button”), Navel oranges have found an ideal habitat in Sicily: the fertile soils and mild climate of the island bring out their sweetness and intense fragrance. Sicilian Naveline oranges stand out for their low acidity and for their delicate, aromatic juice, perfect both for eating fresh and for juices and confectionery.
The skin, of brilliant orange colour with yellow shades, is thick but easily peeled, while the flesh – completely seedless – offers a full, rounded taste. Sicilian Naveline oranges are considered one of the most appreciated varieties also for their long season, which runs from October to March, allowing you to enjoy them for much of the winter.
