Good to know
Description
AranciaDoc® Sicilian lemons are an excellence among Sicilian citrus fruit, known for their fragrant peel and the large amount of juice with a bold, fresh taste.
Grown in a natural, unspoilt environment, they are one of the most iconic fruits of Mediterranean farming tradition.
Production follows sustainable integrated pest management practices, with no post-harvest treatments, to guarantee completely natural lemons, perfect to use with the peel too for cakes, infusions or savoury dishes.
In Sicily, thanks to the mild, sunny climate, the lemon manages to fruit twice a year: the spring flowering gives rise to the most aromatic and juicy fruit, while the winter crop offers citrus with a thicker peel and an intense scent.
Each fruit is picked by hand and carefully packed to keep intact the properties and fragrance typical of fresh Sicilian lemons.
Nutritional information
The benefits of lemons come from their high vitamin C content, essential for strengthening the immune defences and improving iron absorption.
They also contain potassium, which supports the correct water balance, and fibre that aids digestion.
Thanks to their natural acidity, lemons stimulate gastric secretion and improve digestion, supporting metabolism.
They are low in fat and calories (about 29 kcal per 100 g) and rich in antioxidants, which help counter oxidative stress and cell ageing.
In the kitchen
Untreated Sicilian lemons are extremely versatile:
perfect for orange and lemon marmalade or for making citrus cakes and tarts;
ideal for savoury recipes such as lemon fish, risotto, salads and grilled vegetables;
excellent for making refreshing drinks or cleansing infusions;
indispensable in making limoncello or artisan liqueurs.
The zest, thanks to natural cultivation, can also be used for recipes with untreated lemons, candied or to flavour desserts and herbal teas.
