Servizio assistenza clienti incredibilmente veloce e disponibile.

Good to know

Description

The Tarocco Tardivo oranges of Sicily are one of the last varieties of the citrus season, and for this reason they are especially prized for their sweetness and natural hardiness. They come from the same genetic line as the classic Tarocco Gallo, but stand out for their late ripening and the oval shape of the fruit, which stays juicy and fresh for a long time.

Grown along the slopes of Etna, where the volcanic soil and the strong temperature swings encourage the red pigmentation of the flesh, Tarocco Tardivo oranges offer a harmonious, delicate flavour with fruity, aromatic notes. The thin, fragrant skin, easy to peel, also makes them ideal for making blood orange marmalade or candied peel at home.

Thanks to their natural hardiness, Sicilian Tarocco oranges travel well and keep longer than other varieties of blood orange, with their sweetness and juice fully intact.

Nutritional information

Tarocco Tardivo oranges are full of goodness: a concentrate of vitamin C, an ally of the immune system, and of anthocyanins, the red pigments that have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action.
Also rich in fibre and potassium, they aid digestion and the correct fluid balance.

With around 45 kcal per 100 g, blood oranges of the Tarocco Tardivo variety are a light, energising food, ideal for a balanced diet.
Their sweet, aromatic juice is a natural source of wellbeing, perfect for starting the day with vitality or for a healthy snack.

In the kitchen

Thanks to their versatility, Tarocco Tardivo oranges lend themselves to many preparations:

  • Red Tarocco orange juice with an intense colour and a balanced flavour.
  • Late Tarocco orange marmalades, fragrant and natural.
  • Citrus desserts, such as cakes and orange creams.
  • Winter salads with fennel and olives.
  • Fish or white meat dishes with an orange juice reduction.

Late ripening also makes these Sicilian Tarocco oranges perfect for extending the availability of blood oranges into spring.
